Come to visit

Tallest lighthouse in the Nordic countries and most southern travel destination in Finland welcomes you for a visit in the rugged but beautiful islet in open sea. If you visit a lighthouse once in your life, it should be the lighthouse that is the mother, grandmother and godmother of them all.

Visit in summer 2020

After being closed to visitors in April and May, Bengtskär is open for visitors from June 6th. Due to the corona pandemic, the number of visitors to Bengtskär must be limited this summer.

Service

This summer, we will only use cafe Konehuone, on the ground floor. Seating is primarily arranged outside on the yard, but there is seating for a few people inside the café. To minimize risk to our employees, we hope as many of our visitors as possible pay by card. We only have outhouses as bathrooms on the island, but we have improved hand washing possibilities.

We still provide our guests with access to the light room, at top of the lighthouse, and the bunker. One must be aware that in visiting these somewhat cramped spaces, keeping the recommended safety distance is difficult. We pay attention to the health of our guests by keeping separate visiting times to the light room for groups arriving with different boats. Our guests can also visit the ground floor battle exhibition and the museum room on the first floor.

Please take other visitors into consideration, especially indoors.

Permission to visit with your own boat

Because of the corona pandemic private boats must ask for permission before coming to Bengtskär. Call number +358 50 307 4227 and ask Per Wilson if it is possible to visit the island, and at what time it is possible. He can also tell you about the weather and landing possibilities. The number of visitors per day must be limited, and permission is granted only if there is room for more visitors. Private boats with permission can be moored by the rocks at 10.00-12.30 and 15.45-18.00.

Day trips with tour boats

Day trips to Bengstkär will be made also this summer from Kasnäs and Rosala in Kemiönsaari, as well as Hanko. Read more about the tour boats.

Hotel closed

Due to the risk of infection caused by the coronavirus pandemic, the hotel is unfortunately closed and we have to cancel all accommodation bookings for the 2020 season.

If you have a reservation, we will contact you by email. If you have an accommodation gift voucher valid for this season, it will automatically be valid for the corresponding season 2021.
